The Lie: Part 1. This post and the subsequent four posts laid out below are addressed to my closest relatives. However, I invite all new visitors to this website to read these posts to understand my style, the extent of my dedication to the genealogy of the Ragusin Family, and to serve as an example for all future posts. My closest relatives are all children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc. of John Maurice Ragusin and one of his two wives. This post will outline the next four posts that will address John Maurice Ragusin’s (my paternal grandfather) date and place of birth. The next four posts will be as follows:
The Lie: Part 2. John Maurice Ragusin’s date and place of birth. This will be a discussion of the evidence I had on hand and what I did with it that lead me to Senj, Croatia as the birthplace of my grandfather.
The Lie: Part 3. Not John Maurice Ragusin’s date and place of birth. After finding his true birthplace I endeavored to provide evidence that Rimini, Italy was not his birthplace as he claimed on his 1922 marriage application to my grandmother. Since proving the negative is a fallacy of logic this post will be relatively short and sweet.
The Lie: Part 4. John Maurice Ragusin’s date and place of birth again. This is a discussion of the evidence that became available after I had completed the work detailed in Parts 2 and 3. All the new information corroborated Senj as my grandfather’s birthplace and not Rimini.
Part 5. DNA. This will be a very simplistic discussion of genetic genealogy or DNA testing. Because I have tested with several DNA testing companies, I will compile a short list of DNA matches that support Senj, Croatia as my grandfather’s place of birth and not Rimini, Italy.
